ARE LEADERS BORN OR MADE

Leadership is a always and essentially important subject mattered to every human being even before the era of civilization and obviously till end of the human kind and also in the animal world as well. leadership has become a part of human lives from birth to death no matter what is the nationality,race,color,sex or any other differences or kinds.

In the past century many studies,researches,experiments have done on LEADERSHIP but observations have revealed that, leadership styles has developed but still the definition of the concept of leadership is incomplete.

"because leadership is highly dynamic continuously evolving topic entails that new definitions and styles of leadership are continuously developed"(Joan F Marques,2010).

The argument of "Are leaders born or made" one of the highly discussed matters with related to leadership concept where the various studies and experiments have done.

In 19th century and before people thought that leaders are born with the characteristics they have shown. with the assumption of this, Great man theory has developed and emphasized that leaders come from nature which describes that leaders are born.

In past decade numerous human twin studies and animal observations done to prove that genetic components results to have true personality needed to become a leader (Boerma et al.,2017).

By the big five personality factors Goldberg,1990:McCraeand Costa. (1987), explanations have made that with the combination of preferences,biases,habits and feelings the concept of extroversion has emerged and emphasized that it is the most suitable personality type a good leader can have which includes much inborn traits as sociable assertive and positive energy which can be learned or trained in certain extent but probably come with the inborn personality traits. number of leadership traits and characteristics have been identified and some of them being changed with the era we live but with the in born personality traits, still the concept of leaders are born is in a justifiable level. 

Skill approach perspective is a concept which highly positioning that leadership is something can be trained or learned and developed. various studies,experiments and development of theories,styles,qualities have taken place in past few decades based on that the leadership can be learned and it is nurture thing but not a nature.

In the title of ARE LEADERS BORN OR MADE a experiment being done by participation of 361 top level leaders of randomly selected organizations by William et al. (2012), the study resulted and concluded as,

"all groups overwhelmingly agreed that people become leaders in large part as a result of experiences that help them learn how to be a leader".

Conclusion

Leadership is a broad subject which is in kind of a experimental level even present because of the fast changes of contemporary social and business environment but can be described or explained as a concept definitely can be learned,trained and developed in the capacity of each individuals but in the same time it cannot be forget or missed that in born personality qualities,traits and appearances are very much mattered to create a true leadership character.

    1. It is not that born talent is not effective but my point of view is that most of the things in terms of leadership concern can be apply by training and learning and development
